Dr. Balkrishna Sapkota is a Principal of Advanced College of Engineering and Management. He is a Retired Professor of Physics. He received his M. Sc. degree in Physics from Tribhuvan University in 1980, obtained M. Tech (hons) in Hydrology and Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee (then University of Roorkee) in the years 1984 and 1988 respectively. He has about 39 years of experiences in research and teaching in Undergraduate and Graduate level. He has held positions of Head of Physics Instruction Committee (1992-1995), Head of Department of Science and Humanities (1999-2003), Chairman of the B.E./B.Arch. Entrance Committee of Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University.
He was a team leader in a project “formulation of low carbon economic development strategy (LCED) - Phase 1” and advisor in Phase II of the same project. He was Team leader and Expert: Energy and industrial sector; GHG Inventory for Second National Communication (SNC) and expert in energy sector for GHG Inventory for Initial National Communication (INC), Ministry of Environment; Government of Nepal. He was a Visiting Professor at University of Calgary,Canada for One Semester in 1995. His research contributions include Climate Change, measurement/ analysis of Air pollutant, Noise Pollution and development of Global Circuit Model to study the variation of atmospheric electrical parameters due to variation in air pollutant ion.
He has supervised Seven Ph.D. theses. He has contributed number of papers in National/ International Journal/ Conferences. He has authored a book “Fundamentals of Noise Pollution” and Co-authored text books -Fundamentals of Engineering Physics and Engineering Physics Practical for undergraduate level.
