Department of Applied Sciences

Welcome to the Department of Applied Sciences,
Advanced College of Engineering and Management (ACEM), Kalanki, Kathmandu.

The Department of Applied Sciences at Advanced College of Engineering and Management (ACEM) provides the essential academic foundation for all engineering programs. It imparts core scientific and analytical knowledge while fostering an environment that emphasizes the practical application of these concepts-laying a strong groundwork for a successful engineering education.

As an indispensable part of ACEM, the department plays a pivotal role in delivering basic science courses prescribed by the Tribhuvan University (T.U.) engineering curriculum. It also supervises the academic and administrative activities of first-year students across all engineering disciplines.

Courses and Areas Covered
The department oversees a range of foundational subjects, including:
- Engineering Mathematics
- Engineering Physics
- Engineering Chemistry
- Communication English
- Probability and Statistics
- Numerical Methods
- Mechanical Section Courses - Workshop Technology and Engineering Drawing

The department also leads the Mechanical Section and the First-Year Program, ensuring smooth coordination and effective academic delivery. Our teaching modules integrate lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions, enabling students to bridge theoretical understanding with hands-on application.

The department is supported by a team of highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty members committed to providing quality education that prepares students not only for academic excellence but also for professional success and meaningful societal contribution.

Mechanical Section

The Mechanical Section conducts both theory and practical sessions for core subjects such as Engineering Drawing and Workshop Technology, which are mandatory for first-year undergraduate students. These courses form the foundation of engineering practice, helping students of every stream understand and embody the true essence of being an "engineer" in the real world.
