Lecture on How Research Works: From Designing a Study to Publishing a Paper

The Research and Innovation Unit (RIU) of the Advanced College of Engineering and Management (ACEM) had the privilege of hosting Prof. Dr. Katja Stamer, Head of Business Engineering at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW), Germany, for the first session of her two-day lecture series held on December 2, 2025.

Lecture 1 – How Research Works: From Designing a Study to Publishing a Paper

Prof. Dr. Stamer delivered a comprehensive and insightful lecture on the core principles of academic research. The session covered the complete research cycle, including the development of strong research questions, selection of appropriate methodologies, adoption of data-driven analytical frameworks, and preparation of manuscripts for publication in reputed international journals.

She also addressed common challenges faced by young researchers and shared practical strategies to help them build clarity, rigor, and confidence in their research journey.

This session was attended by 3rd- and 4th-year students of Engineering and BCA, who gained valuable exposure to international research standards and scholarly practices.

ACEM, through the leadership of its Research and Innovation Unit (RIU), extends its sincere appreciation to Prof. Dr. Katja Stamer for conducting an engaging and academically enriching session that has contributed significantly to strengthening the research culture within the institution.

The second lecture of the series will be held on December 3, 2025 on the topic “Industry–Academia Collaboration.”
