SET Conference 2022

December 17, 2022, With the aim of bringing together scholars, industrialists, practitioners, and students  from academia and industry to focus on research areas of new & prominent technologies related to the field of science, technology and engineering, the 4th Science, Engineering and Technology, SET, conference was organized with the theme of 'Emerging Technologies for a Smart World'.

The conference was organized by the SET team of Advanced College of Engineering and Management, acem, in the premises of the college itself in the enthusiastic presence of the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Dharma Kanta Baskota, Vice chancellor (VC) of Tribhuvan University (TU), special guest, Professor Dr. Shashidhar Ram Joshi, Dean of Institute of Engineering (IOE), and chairman of the inaugural session, Prof. Dr. Durga Prasad Sangroula, Principal of acem. Along with Mr. Ramesh Kumar Silwal, chairman of acem, the program was also graced by the presence of the keynote speaker, Er. Hitendra Dev Shakya, Former Managing Director (MD) of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). 

At the conference, experts in the field of industry presented their expertise on emerging technologies. Er. Lochan Lal Amatya, former CTO of Nepal Telecom, Dr. Bijay Jaisi, Director of Department of Roads and Er. Madhu Bhetwal, Joint Secretary at Government of Nepal, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. 

Similarly, from Pulchowk Campus, IOE, Prof. Dr. Ram Krishna Maharjan, Head of Electronics and Computer Engineering Department, Prof. Subarna Shakya, Director, Information Technology Innovation Center, TU and a professor of the Electronics and Computer Engineering Department along with Prof. Dr. Gokarna Bahadur Motra, Head of Civil Engineering Department and Assoc. Prof. Mohammad Badrudoja, Head of Electrical Engineering Department were the respective session chairs of various parallel sessions during the conference.

Prof. Dr. Dharma Kanta Baskota, VC of TU and the chief guest of the event, expressed his gratitude to the organizers and the participants. Prof. Dr. Baskota focused his speech on the notable value of innovation, invention, knowledge and skill. “Emerging technologies can only remain sustainable and relevant if they are supported by these four aspects of learning.” He affirmed with the warm wish of success of the program.

Special guest of the event, Prof. Dr. Shashidhar Ram Joshi, Dean, IOE, during his felicitation speech stated that the conference would develop a culture of incorporation with the recent technologies. “We need to be updated in the digital world of today; it is like familiarizing oneself with the basic concept of mathematics. Such learning always benefits an individual and maintains his/her relevancy to the smart world’. He also added that it is necessary for all the academic institutions offering science, technology and engineering studies to conduct such seminars. 

Mr. Ramesh Kumar Silwal, Chairman of acem, welcomed the distinguished guests, speakers, presenters and participants and expressed his appreciation for their precious time. During his speech, Mr. Silwal connected the skills of learning with inventions, technologies and most importantly, the skills. He asserted that this platform ensures abundant skills and innovation of the new generation.

Professor Dr. Durga Prasad Sangroula, Principal of acem and the Chairman of the Inaugural Session expressed his gratitude to the entire panel of chief guests, special guests, speakers, acem team and participants for gracing the program with their valuable presense. He asserted that informative events of this kind help to enlighten not just the participating students but also the scholars and technical experts. 

Similarly, Er. Laxmi Bhakta Maharjan, Vice-Principal of acem and Chairman of Academic-Industrial Session provided his commendable remarks for the organizing team and appreciated the uprising journey of engineering students of Nepal. He also stressed the importance of such conferences and shared that acem will continue to create such platforms for the students and relevant intellectuals.

Presenters from various academic institutions shared their research works in the last session of the conference. Highlighting the SET and program details, Dr. Raksha Dangol, President of SET committee-2022 shared that “As the objective of the program, this platform was largely utilized by the students where they presented new research papers and posters in their respective fields of Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering.”
