CAILIC iLectures Lecture II Conducted at ACEM

The Center for Academia-Industry Linkages and International Collaboration (CAILIC) at Advanced College of Engineering and Management (ACEM) successfully conducted the CAILIC Academia-Industry Lecture Series (iLectures): Lecture II on “Interdisciplinary Aspects of Landslides: From Hazard Mapping to Early Warning Systems” on May 19, 2026, at the Conference Hall, ACEM.

The session was delivered by Prof. Netra P. Bhandary from Ehime University, Japan. During the lecture, Prof. Bhandary shared valuable insights into interdisciplinary approaches to landslide studies, hazard mapping techniques, geospatial technologies, and early warning systems for disaster risk reduction. He also discussed the causes of earthquakes in both Japan and Nepal and highlighted Japan’s earthquake-resilient systems, preparedness mechanisms, and technological advancements in disaster mitigation and resilience.

The lecture served as an important platform for academic interaction, knowledge exchange, and meaningful discussions on contemporary challenges and innovations in disaster management and landslide research. The program witnessed the enthusiastic participation of students, faculty members, scholars, and professionals from related fields.

The program commenced with a welcome address by the Chief of CAILIC, Associate Professor Dr. Shanker Dhakal, who also provided an overview of the lecture series and its objectives. The session concluded with closing remarks by the Chairperson of ACEM, Mr. Ramesh Kumar Silwal, who expressed his appreciation to Prof. Bhandary for the insightful session and shared his vision for future collaboration in research and other relevant academic and professional areas.

On the occasion, Prof. Bhandary also inaugurated the official CAILIC wall poster, marking another milestone in strengthening the center’s commitment to promoting academia-industry collaboration, research engagement, and international cooperation.
