Workshop-3 on How to Present Your Minor/Major Project and Survive Project Defense

Posted on June 28, 2026

The AI Research Center of Advanced College of Engineering and Management (ACEM) successfully conducted a workshop titled "How to Present Your Research and Survive Project Defense" on Ashadh 12, 2083 (June 26, 2026) from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The workshop was organized specifically for undergraduate students of Computer and Electronics Engineering with the objective of enhancing their presentation skills and preparing them for successful project defenses.

The session was led by Dr. Bipun Man Pati, DEng., with assistance from Er. Ukesh Thapa. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 65 students, reflecting a growing interest in research and effective communication among ACEM students.

The workshop focused on two critical aspects of academic life: delivering effective project presentations and surviving the project defense examination. The workshop emphasized that presentations are often the make-or-break aspect of project communication and that students must learn to convey complex technical information clearly and confidently. Participants were introduced to practical techniques for structuring presentations, designing impactful slides, managing time effectively, and handling questions from examination committees.

The major topics covered during the session included:

• Types of Presentations and Their Characteristics

• Designing Effective Presentations

• Content Organization for Proposal Defense

• Presentation Delivery Skills

• Strategies for Project Defense

• Dealing with Nasty Examiner

The workshop provided students with invaluable insights into the project presentation process and equipped them with practical skills necessary for successfully defending their academic projects. Through interactive discussions, real-world examples, and practical demonstrations of both good and poor presentation practices, participants gained a deeper understanding of how effective communication serves as the foundation for academic success.

The AI Research Center of Advanced College of Engineering and Management (ACEM) remains committed to fostering a strong research culture by organizing capacity-building programs, workshops, and training sessions that bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world engineering research and innovation.
