CAILIC Academia-Industry Lecture Series (iLectures): Lecture I

Session on Patents and Innovation
Exploring the Journey from Idea Generation to Prototyping and Intellectual Property Protection

The Center for Academia-Industry Linkages and International Collaboration (CAILIC) at Advanced College of Engineering and Management (ACEM) successfully organized CAILIC Academia-Industry Lecture Series (iLectures): Lecture I on “Patents: From Idea to Innovation to Prototyping" on Baishakh 17, 2083 (April 30, 2026)The session was organized with the objective of promoting innovation-driven thinking, enhancing awareness of intellectual property rights, and encouraging students and professionals to transform creative ideas into practical and impactful solutions.

The session was delivered by Mr. Zoran Dujakovic, an accomplished innovator and holder of more than a dozen patents. Drawing from his extensive professional experience in innovation and product development, he shared valuable insights into the journey of transforming creative ideas into patented technologies and functional prototypes. His presentation emphasized the importance of creativity, innovation-driven thinking, and problem-solving approaches in addressing real-world challenges.

During the session, Mr. Dujakovic discussed various stages involved in the innovation process, including idea generation, concept validation, research and development, intellectual property rights, patent filing procedures, and effective prototyping strategies. He also highlighted the importance of protecting innovative ideas through patents and explained how intellectual property can contribute to technological advancement, entrepreneurship, and industrial growth. Through practical examples and real-world experiences, participants gained a deeper understanding of how innovative concepts can evolve into commercially viable products and technologies.

The lecture provided an engaging platform for academic interaction, professional discussion, and knowledge exchange among participants. Faculty members, staff, and attendees actively participated in discussions and interactions with the speaker, making the session highly insightful and enriching. The event also encouraged participants to explore the relationship between innovation, engineering applications, research, and industry collaboration in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Through such initiatives, CAILIC at ACEM continues to strengthen academia-industry linkages, foster research and innovation, and promote international collaboration and professional engagement. The session reflected ACEM’s commitment to nurturing a culture of creativity, practical learning, engineering excellence, and interdisciplinary knowledge sharing among students, researchers, faculty members, and professionals.

ACEM extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Zoran Dujakovic for sharing his valuable expertise, experiences, and inspiring perspectives on innovation and patents. The college also appreciates the enthusiastic participation and active engagement of all attendees, whose contributions greatly enhanced the success of the session.
